The Game Concept

Rowen is doing GREAT! We have been very busy with travel and life. Rowen and I headed to Chicago 2 weeks ago to visit the Benz/Goldman Clan. Rowen was amazing on the flight both ways. Everyone commented on what a amazingly well behaved little boy he was. He had a lot of fun seeing Grandma & Papa, Lucie, Aunt Amie and Uncle David, Bubbe & Zaide, and Aunts Nini and Dana. He also got his second haircut and was a champ! He adapted well to sleeping on the road.

Over the last few weeks we have really noticed Rowen's language growing. He is now using 2 words or more to express him self. He says things like, purple truck, yellow bus, help please, car-beep beep, Moo Moo Cow, and more this or more that. While driving he repeatedly says- More Truck, More Truck. He has a clearer understanding of colors and does know 3-4 shapes. He has mastered counting and likes to count everything. He will also say "NO doggie" when Titan is doing something unwanted- like standing where Rowen wants to be.

He knows several songs and will ask for a song by name. Priscilla discovered this weekend, while watching Rowen on Saturday night that he likes to "sing" Twinkle Little Star (See FB video of Twinkle little star). He also has begun to insert animals for Old McDonald (see video below). He requests this by saying- More Eeey Eeey Ohhh. He also loves wheels on the bus and itsy bitsy spider.

Today while with Bryan, I called on the Cellphone and Rowen said, "Uh Oh- Mama!". Hilarious.

This weekend we really appreciated Rowen's evolution to the "game" concept. He now does things repeatedly (see video below) that are part of a game- or interactive play. He also understands the concept of pretend and likes to feed you blueberries from the pages of the book Jamberry. He likes to give Elmo his paci and lovey at night. And now will often go in for a "kiss" and at the last minute turn his head and say "Noooo" then giggle to himself. He also will take his animals and have them do things- like pretend the doggie or cow is blowing the whistle.

He has a great memory and will often bring up things we did earlier. For example, we ready Hippopotamus book last night and today he pointed to his belly and said, "Bee Bo" as is said in the book.

He has also been saying "ya" or "da" for things he wants or when the affirmative is appropriate as in - "Rowen do you have poop in your pants". "Da". However, he does not reliably recognize this scenario, as of yet. But we have been talking more about it in anticipation of potty training. Good times, yet to come!

We went to the ENT doctor today to follow-up on Rowen's ear infections. He got a clean bill of health. Dr. Early won him over with his latex glove turkey ballon. Dr. Early said today after meeting Rowen, "I was hoping he would be cuter!". IMPOSSIBLE!!

Guess what- Video Trouble....please check back.
