Talking, Tantrums, and much more.

Rowen has been cruising along and will be 15 months old next week. He has mastered walking and almost never falls. Unless he is walking over things. He is also now able to crawl off furniture and down the stairs. He knows "feet first". He appears to have figured this out all on his own. The furniture that is. After our Santa Fe adventure, I have been teaching him to go down the stairs on his belly! Lest, he should ever find himself at the top of an unfamiliar staircase ever again!


He has been talking more and more each day. He will often echo words that we say. It is hard to know how much of it he actually understands. He does say Doggie, Hi, diaper, and Uh Oh- pretty regularly and appropriately. He will sometimes say Thank you and seems to understand when to use this term. Other words he has echoed from us include, Quack, School, Shoes, na-na (banana), and Dino (dinosaur).

He had a fever this week, but bounced right back and has been full steam ahead this weekend. He has his 15 month check up this Friday, so we should learn about how he is progressing. He now has two bottom molars. He is also now a tooth brushing champion.

Rowen has also been asserting his freedom to throw a tantrum. We have read in several reliable sources that this is normal behavior for his age. Sometimes we can tell that crisis is approaching and redirect. Other times, the bus has already left the station. He will throw himself down and kick his legs and cry. One may also call the noise that he makes- screaming. When you try to pick him up he will arch his back or become a 21 lbs sack of potatoes. It is a true joy. But like all things this too shall pass. We read with mixed emotion that it will indeed pass.....around age 3-4.
