Mission Accomplished
After 3.5 years of dating and almost 2 years of marriage, I have accomplished my mission. I have replaced Bryan's glasses. I am very excited. It is amazing how much a pair of glasses can change your look. When I went glasses shopping with Bryan for the first time in February, I realized why Bryan had chosen his glasses in the past, which may have been less flattering to his beautiful baby blues. It is because without wearing his glasses he can NOT see. So he is essentially "blindly" choosing or depending on the advice of the sales assistant. This is a BIG mistake. The sales assistant that was gleefully helping my husband pick out his glasses this time around (until I shooed her away) had brought Bryan no less than 8 variations on the Harry Potter frame for his selection. Each time Bryan would dutifully put them on, bring his face 3 inches from the mirror and accept her perceptions- those look GREAT! I explained we were looking to update his look and began to take charge. We narrowed it down to two pairs. Bryan put on his old glasses and watched as I displayed these selections on my face for his choosing. He settled on the metal frames and the bill was paid. We were both somewhat nervous over the next 2 weeks, wondering if we had done the right thing, by moving in such a different direction with Bryan's glasses. However, when the final product arrived and he tried them on and could SEE what they looked like- a new love affair was born. Bryan and his glasses have remained inseparable since that time. Could be love, could be the requirement of vision to function in his day to day. I think it's love. I am sure that he loves his new glasses. I know I do.
