Flowers Growing

We thought we could give readers a visual update on our flowers out front. We dug up the holly bush between the tall grass and the house and it really opened things up.

Movie Review: Death Sentence

Grade: C+

Hello, movie fans. Myla and I went to see Death Sentence with Kevin Bacon. He turns vigilante when his son is killed by gang members. It is a bit odd since it not quite a big shoot 'em up Hollywood movie, nor a realistic indie flick. It seems to float in the middle. One moment Bacon fumbles with the guns he just bought since he never used one before, and the next he is expertly handling a powerful shotgun. When Kevin flashes "I'm going to kill you sucker" look in the camera, a few people in the audience laughed. Yeah, my sentiments exactly. Many of the actors who portrayed gang members including its leader and main villain to Bacon didn't do a good job. They were not scary. The actor who portrayed the little brother who did kill Bacon's son was good, but he is the first victim. John Goodman was great as the father of the head gang member. It is worth a rental just to hear John Goodman yell back to Bacon as he leaves his shop, "May God be with you and your bag of guns."

Finished House

Finally, after 4 months, our house is put back together! It was pretty crazy but it is complete. You might notice new paint on the deck. Since a few boards had to be replaced, we got it repainted. (The front deck is also the same color.) Yesterday, we put together some new furniture and sat out on our deck and it was wonderful. It certainly feels more than 4 months when the storm blew through, but we are glad it is done. Did I say done many times?! Whew.

Finished Room

Well, here we are, the finished library. The floor installer grouped a bunch of darker bamboo boards together, and it looked like the floor was patched. So, we had him redo part of the floor.
