Dancing and Sorting

Rowen has become very excited by music. It is amazing how natural and innate dancing is. Without any prompting or demonstrating- Rowen just began to rock and twist when these musical cube is played. Check out below!

Rowen has also become very focused on sorting. In this video you can see him putting his blocks away. His other new thing is to separate his food into the different sections on his high chair tray. The tray has several division for food and two holes for "drinks". Rowen likes to take his food from the main tray and put them in the drink holder opening.

He continues to babble and say Uh Oh- but no other clear "talking". He does not appear to distinguish anything from Daddy. This is the most reliable word he uses but he uses it for all occasions and circumstances. The other day when Bryan came to pick up Rowen at daycare, Ms. Anna said, "Rowen has been talking about you all day!". Hilarious.

Anyway, the other most adorable think he is doing is clapping. If you say Rowen want to do Patty Cake- he will start clapping his hands. No video of this- you will have to take my work for it. Super cute!

Noises and High Five!

Rowen had his first week at the 2nd new day care. As some of you know, we moved Rowen from Ms. Kate's home in mid-August. At the time, we were hoping to get him into UVA program. But, alas they told us it would be 2010 before we would come up on the waitlist. Mind you, I went on the waitlist when I was 4 months pregnant!

Anyway, we put Rowen in a great program called First Steps. He was there for 6 weeks and doing well when we got "the call". Hello, Myla Craig...this is Patrick from UVA Children's World. Your name is next on the waitlist. But it is only 9/2009. Amazing.

After much deliberation and discussions with no less than 8 parents we decided to move Rowen to the UVA program. There were several reasons including: he can stay until age 5 (kindergarten), the room he is in is 8 kids 7 mos - 10 mos (previous room was 8 kids age 6 weeks to 10 months- Rowen being the oldest), it was WAY more convenient for us, it is a nationally certified children education program, the room has two HUGE picture windows, we really liked the new director Patrick....all this AND it cost less. I calculated (just for fun- no news to report) if we have two children at the program compared to First Steps the savings would be 500 dollars a month!

So, after 5 days of being there- Rowen is now giving "high fives", doing this Indian noise, saying Uh-Oh and waving goodbye. May just be coincidence- but we are impressed. :)

Quick trip to Cleveland

We took a quick trip to Cleveland last weekend to see Bryan's Family and our friends. It was great to see Melinda and William. Minda is cookin' up TWO GIRLS!! We also got to share a quick dinner with Amanda, Nat and Jack and Jen. On Saturday, we spent much of the day with Grandma and Grandpa Craig, Aunt Lisa, and the two Great Uncles. It was wonderful to see them. Rowen surprised us all by climbing his first flight of stairs at Grandpa Craig's house. Who knew he could even do that??? Thank goodness Aunt Lisa was there as the spotter.

Check out the video- As 5 adults stand in amazement as Rowen climbs these three steps.
